High School Senior Portraits at Farmington Country Club, Charlottesville VA

Girls Senior Portrait in a tree on Farmington Country Club's Golf Course in Charlottesville Virginia.

Senior Portraits - a time to celebrate a major milestone in our children’s lives, and a major change in the house for Mom and Dad. For 18 years, these tiny humans have been growing into adults, testing the waters and before you know it, they are ready to move on to the next phase. It doesn’t seem possible…one minute you’re watching them learn how to ride a two wheeled bike, then suddenly they are driving, and then they are leaving home. It can bring a tear or two, and tug at the heart-how’d it arrive so fast? Suddenly, you’re going down the mental list of things you thought you would have taught them by now, but are frantically realizing you may have missed one or two items. And the last few precious moments where you simultaneously are happy you don’t have to see their messy room anymore and sad at the thought of the silence you know will come when they’ve moved out. But before you let them go, you want one last moment with them, one last lunch out, or one last day by the pool, even though their minds are clearly somewhere else.

I think a lot of times, senior portraits are the last thing on their mind. I know my three thought that one snap of the shutter and we were done. And if I’m being honest, I wasn’t too thrilled to do my own sons senior pictures. I knew they would give me a hard time, but they insisted they wanted me (all the better to get away with being uncooperative, LOL), and in the end, it took two tries with my twins. But it was worth the effort for me, if not for them. That was 8 years ago, and they’ve since come to appreciate my insistence for having those images. No matter how big the schlep factor, even just a handful of images are worth the effort of achieving when your child graduates from high school. So don’t miss this opportunity to get Senior pictures of your son or daughter.

There are so many options to make it fun for both of you, and a small moment in time to remember forever. Charlottesville has many unique, and wonderful places to photograph seniors, and one of my favorites is Farmington Country Club. The surroundings are beautiful and lend a gorgeous backdrop to the portraits. Clare is one Senior who took advantage of these beautiful grounds, which saw the first building constructed sometime prior to 1780, the land having been acquired by grant through King George II in 1744. We had a great time walking through the different areas of the grounds, and creating a varied portfolio of images. Below is a sampling of some of the images from her session at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia.
